Assistance and Grants for Native Plant Gardens

The Wild Ones Red Cedar Chapter is committed to helping develop native gardens throughout the Greater Lansing, Michigan area. Non-profit organizations and public entities can submit an “Assistance and Grant Application” to the Chapter at any time during the year. Download the guidelines below.
Projects must be consistent with our mission of promoting environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration, and establishment of native plant communities. Assistance can take the form of expert planning advice, supplying plant material, or providing monetary funding up to $500.

Wild Ones Grants
Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grant Program
Application period is July 15-November 15
For more than 25 years, the Wild Ones national office has administered the Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grant Program. This program has provided grants ranging from $100 to $500 for native plant gardens and landscaping projects throughout the United States. The funds are designated for acquiring native plants and seeds for outdoor learning areas that engage youth (preschool to high school) directly in planning, planting and caring for native plant gardens.
All public and private schools, non-profits such as nature centers, youth organizations and community youth centers in the US are welcome to apply so long as the project uses native plants or seeds to educate youth. Follow this link for more information.

Wildflower Association of Michigan Grants

The Wildflower Association of Michigan’s (WAM) annual grant program funds projects that support the WAM mission. It is their desire to educate Michigan’s citizens to recognize, preserve, restore and re-create the native landscape and to pass on an appreciation and respect for our native flora.
Only applications from non-profit organizations will be considered. Each applicant may request up to $1,250 in support. These funds can be used to purchase plants and seeds as well as mulch, labels or signs. The application deadline is December 1. Awardees will receive their funds at the Awards Luncheon during the Michigan Native Plant Conference at the Kellogg Center on the campus of Michigan State.
